Filling an anaesthetic machine vaporizer
Переглядів 14 тис.8 років тому
This video illustrates the process of filling up an anaesthetic machine vaporizer with isoflurane. Although a fairly simple process, it tends to be one of those areas where knowledge is assumed rather than taught. This is a non-scripted video so sorry about referring to the projections on the keyed isoflurane fitting as "knobbles" rather than projections!

Flank cat spay
Переглядів 63 тис.12 років тому
Demonstration of the flank approach to a cat spay filmed in a veterinary teaching hospital environment. It is interesting to compare the differing degree of aseptic technique in this video with the other cat spay video filmed in general veterinary practice conditions. The flank approach is not commonly performed by recent veterinary graduates in Australia, because they are not taught this techn...

Great
Best learning vedio and easiest way
the Sutures is absorbable or non absorbable?
Absorbable internal, non-absorbable external
@@JohnInns Thank you
I felt this in my fallopian tube
My cat was castrated today and it was done in the same way, but he bled and I was told that I must squeeze the wound so that the blood does not accumulate. Is this normal or not, knowing that the blood stopped bleeding?
Also it looked like there was a bifurcation to the vein. Could have entered just above it the vein would have been more stable at that point.
Probably should have been quicker with the entry. She probably slid off of the vein because of it.
My cat is getting spayed today. I am worried about my little one 😢

👍
That beep is so annoying
That's the heart monitor
Hi Doctor John:) ı have a questions. I wonder why you don't get it from bifurcatio. Do you experience any problems afterwards? Adhesion ?

thats a really big skin cut for a cat spay
This was the best explanation video I’ve seen for intubating
Hi, thank you for this video, Here I have a question and is that ... Why the skin sutures were that loose? I know that they shoudn't be tight but I didn't know they must be loose like this!
The sutures are designed to bring the two edges of the skin together so that they are in contact to allow healing and don't need to. be any tighter than that. You can test this by exerting gentle pressure to see if the wound gapes at all after placing them. In the first couple of days after surgery the wound edges will tend to swell, tightening the sutures further. If the sutures are too tight to start with, they will bit into the skin with an increased tendency for the cat to remove them.
@@JohnInns ohhh thank you very much for your tips.
Which sedative for animal you would recommend?
Usually buprenorphine pre-surgery +/- ACP, but can use other combinations too depending on the temperament of the cat
Thanks for you but i want ask about do you suture the subcut layer or no And when ligated the horn of uterus if this correct way or ligate under biforcation . Ihave seroma always in area of wound how can prevent this seroma
Suture subcut layer if it is present to reduce "dead space". Can ligate uterus either location - "success" is dependent on removing the ovaries. Try to ensure good haemostasis at the time of surgery and try to restrict exercise (jumping) post-surgery
This is the exact way my marvelous vet spayed my dear girl. She barely had any issues afterwards and came out such a much better cat! This is by far the best method , and my vet used meltaway sutures which made it an even better experience for her. She nearly never even knew what had happened! I cant say enough what a proponent I am for pet owners to have yoyr pets altered, it is worth it every day !
Why not suturing the scrotal skin after surgery?
You could but "traditionally" most people don't. The wound is small and tends to heal rapidly by second intention and also allows drainage of any blood post-operatively (particular if an open castration technique is used). Occasionally you may have a cat that licks the wound, but this tends to be rare. One problem with suturing would be suture removal (if you used non-absorbable sutures)!
Excellent
The suture material is left inside the scrotum?
I just adopted a 4 m/o kitten and she was fixed. I was curious to see the procedure but looking at it now it hurts my heart but I know it’s what’s best for her 🥺
I always have seroma in all my operation so I need how can avoid this seroma please and I want to know what kind of suture simple or continuous or cross matress use in each layer of body I mean in skin, subcutenous ,muscle
Thanx d.r. You vere good
Si va a usar el gancho nones necesaria una incisión tan grande
You think my dog might need stitches z?
Getting mine neutered in an hour. Was wondering what he’s gonna go through. Thanks for the video. Very informative 🙂
I was wonderin how they did it too 😆
amazing!
Nice tutorial
It was really helpful.
I couldn't do it, if i have people told mr what i need to do 😁😁
Is not there a danger that the suture may get loose and bleeding occurs in closed castration. Please guide me
You need to ensure your suture is tied tightly - if in doubt you can always place another suture (ligature).
have seen many videos sofar but nothing better than this...Great job..
I think it’d better to have an additional step to fix the first knot before moving on the second one
Is a rotating technique proper?I mean pulling the testicle and rotate it until the vessel “dies” and the testicle detaches
Some vets will use this technique with an open castration, but a ligature (if tied correctly) will prevent all bleeding (rather than hoping that bleeding will stop on its own). The technique shown here is a closed castration and pulling the testicle is not recommended as it is still contained within the vaginal tunic.
It was good job
everytime i think of an iv catheter placement i panic TOTALLY
ถืกใจ ขอบคุนมากฯ
It’s nice for the patient if you shave around the entire arm so that you are not pulling off hair when removing the tape.
This is so helpful! One day I hope to be a vet nurse and do things like this.
You should cut uterus under bifurcatio, because if you cut in cornua the cat will get stump pyometra :'(
Pyometra develops in a uterus which has been primed by exposure to progesterone. If you remove both ovaries (source of progesterone) a pyometra should not develop (unless you give a progestagen e.g. Ovarid). Many vets will only remove the ovaries and leave the uterus in place when they spay a cat.
Thank you for this helpful video sir🌼
